Migration

Saint Louis University is in the process of migrating from WebCT 4.1 to Blackboard CE (aka WebCT 6.0) This decision was made by a committee which included faculty representatives, and staff from ITS and The Reinert CTE. Since that time the Blackboard Corporation purchased the WebCT Corporation and changed the name of WebCT 6.0 to Blackboard CE.

  • As of April 1, 2008, no new WebCT courses will be created. From Summer 08 onward, only Blackboard will be available. If you need a shell for a course you'll be teaching in Summer 08 or later, please complete the Blackboard request form at http://blackboard.slu.edu/faculty_form.html.
  • SLU faculty with courses remaining on the WebCT server should complete the form at http://webct.slu.edu/migration.html no later than June 15, 2008, so that those courses can be migrated to the Blackboard server by the Blackboard/WebCT Team. Courses currently in progress on WebCT, will of course finish on WebCT without interuption, so be sure to indicate on the form if a course is currently in use. Please note that migrated courses do not retain any student data. Failure to provide direction for each course you own on the WebCT server will result in a delay of your course being available the next time you need to teach it.
  • On June 30, 2008, the WebCT server will become unavailable for all courses except those where the BB/WebCT team are notified that students are finishing incompletes, and courses that started before January 2008 and don't end before June 30, 2008.
